I have a 55 gal. tank with 1 9" albino Oscar in my livingroom.Just picked up a 75 gal. that I though I'd put in the livingroom with the Oscar as a show tank.Any sujustions as to decor? In his tank now is a log that is fake and looks so, but he seems to like it. ( swims in and out of it all the time)Also thinking about rocks siliconed together. ( living in the center of the FingerLakes we have all kinds of rocks)
Was also thinking about the filters. I have a xp5 on another tank, and two 305's on two 55gals. tanks. Should I put the 2-305's on the 75 gal or the xp5 and a HOB filter? Thanks ahead for all ideas.

imho driftwood and rocks are a safe bet for decroating an oscar tank. also i tend to lean more towards sand as asubstrate.
as for the filtration an fx5 on a 75 gallon tank is tons you really sont need anything else.

dont forget to post pics of the new setup when your done.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

Thanks for the idea. I like driftwood also.I really want to make a nice show tank. ( thats show tank for human eye's HaHa) I also have 4 other tanks for growouts, a 120 gal with 6 3" tigers and 2 55 gal. with silver dollors and 1 1/2 inch wild caught O's, and the cold water tank with red ceibals. I think I'll take the fx5 off the 120 and get something else for that.

Why dont you set up the 120 and use that as the show tank and have the fx5 running on that, the Oscar will prefer a 120 over a 75 mate.
any reason why not?
2 Tiger Oscars, 1 Lutino Oscar, 1 Jack Dempsey, 3 Clown Loaches, 1 Blue Phantom Pleco.

Its basically the room. The 120 is a 6" tank and I have it in my fish room in the shop. Its also been used, as the top rim is melted in 2 places. OK for a growout tank, not so pretty as a living room show tank. I wanted a 120 4' ft tank when I found a almost new 4' 75 gal.

You seem to know enough to keep me from preaching about cycling your new tank. Where are the Finger Lakes? I'm from Minnesota, land of 10,000 lakes....and 2 fish

The FingerLakes are in Upstate New York between Syracuse and Rochester. They are long/narrow lakes.I live between the 2 biggest lakes, Seneca and Cayuga. Seneca is 45 miles long, 5 miles across and about 800 ft deep in spots.
I'm never offended by reminders of cycling, water testing and water changes.BTW...........I do 3- 30% water changes a week on the 55 gal,in the livingroom.Retirement gives me the time for water changes.
One last thing....The Yankees are going to kill the Twins this weekend.HaHa

Are the Yankees still fighting that war?? No wonder so many people up here are grumpy! I'm a Southern girl and love the beauty of Minnesota but home will always be South....and warm!

No wars, I just like to kid about baseball.I've been through Minnesota once and its really nice there. I just got home from my pacemaker MD visit in Rochester and found a really nice tank stand at Petco for 1/2 price clearance so I grabbed it.Should go well with the 75 in the living room. Have a nice day!

Going down to the lake(1/2 mile from my house) tonight and look for rocks.I usually boil them before I put them in the tanks.I forgot to say its a 75 gal going in the living room. The stand was for a 75(48 1/2 x 18 1/2.)
