Sinstinna: You were right, I think it was inevitable really that I would end up with some of these although I felt I wanted some of the red tigers that I saw ... having seen these guys in good light at home though I wouldn't swap them for anything!

Paul: These are some of the 'black smooth skinned' oscars that I asked about elsewhere on the forum. The manager told me when I got them that they had originally come in to the shop as 'smooth skinned reds' but that he had never seen anything like them. The tank they were in was quite dark and so they did look pretty much black in the shop. They only have a couple of tiny marks on them now and the fungus has cleared entirely over night

again, never seen anything like tat, love tem!

They look like chocolate, have you named them yet?

These look just like the ones I saw. I love how these fish look.

Paul, you were quite right the Oscars are now bold as brass and demanding food day and night - they even start begging if the dogs go near the tank

They have very good appetites and so far have eaten everything they have been offered although I have noticed that when it is pellets a few escape them and once they hit the floor they are no longer of interest however if it's little bits of meat they never miss!

I've already found out that everything that has been said about bioload is absolutely true and unexaggerated!

Their colours are really coming out now, they are a gorgeous, subtle rainbow of shades. They have been named Iguazu and Kerepakupai-Merú (Iggy and Merú for short) after south american waterfalls. Until I can reliably tell them apart they will probably just be called "the Oscars" though.
