TOPIC: new set up

new set up 2 years, 9 months ago #47743

i have a tank with three baby oscars and a clown loach. Two are common oscars and one is a tiger.I just added the third a day later and now the fish seem to be in hiding around the feeder or my sponge filter. Will they settle down soon? ive had fish before but these are my first oscars.

sometimes Oscars take a little bit of time to settle in so just give it time.

I must add that keeping one clown loach on its own is not really a good idea. They are quite social and prefer to be in groups. just so you know.

many factors have to be checked:
1) is your tank had been cycled?
2) how big is your tank?
3) what filtration are you using?

newly introduced fishes in the tank usually hide or stay
at the bottom but it should not take long and they will
explore the new territory. they usually stays near the pump
because of the water current and the heat emitted by the pump.

btw, welcome to the site!

can you explore further about the filter as to what is the flow rate.
filtering pumps and media plays important role in keeping the tank
water in perfect condition. no matter how much media do you have if
the flow rate is under rated, it won't cope with the loads and vise
versa, thus creating problem. this early, we have to sort that out.

not enough, your 90 gal is under filtered.
there is no such over filtered tank but under filtered there is.
watch out for your water parameter.
