hi

i have recently purchased a 72"x18"x18" tank, my filter (fx5) arrives on monday and i am wondering how many, and what sort of fish? i should purchase. my LFS suggested getting just some feeder fish...any suggested would be great

feeder fish is fine but for that tank size you will need a lot
of them to make it effective and less expensive even if they die.
more over, once your tank fully cycled, you can drop the o without
worrying for the guppies. they would become a good treat instantly
for the o.

yeah that is what i thought, i was thinking maybe getting about 50 or so would this do the trick?

30 to 40 would be fine...with normal feeding to produce
waste, a elements needed to complete the cycling. anyway
they reproduce like a rabbit, after few days, you will find
small fries swimming around with the grown ups.

GET about 5 x 5" goldfish ....they create a hell of a lot more waste than 1" guppies ............and a damn sight chaper toooooooooooooooooo !!!!!!!!!!!!

nothing !!!!!!!!!!!!!! they wont all survive ...the ones that do could go back to where you got them from butty

Im with BGH on this, goldfish are the most cost effective way to do it.

When you are cycled put your oscars in and remove the goldfish, maybe put them in someones pond
