I'm building a 77g with 2 Tiger Oscar, as they will be baby when i get them, and a baby Fire Mouth Eel ( not the cichlid fish ).
I'm just wondering if the two O's will get on the eel
I will but some rock and wood so the eel can hide but just to be sure she don't get kill.
And how long do you think that set up will last ( growing Oscar from baby to adult )

First I have to tell you, 77 gallons is questionable for 2 Oscars. But definitely not big enough for any tank mates. Mayby consider a bigger tank.

As far as i know it will be ok for the 4-5 first month, just the time my O's get bigger. When they get bigger i will rehome it to a 130g. Just can't for the first month.
and for the eel i didn't think they really need much place when they are young they monstly hide and come out only to eat... not sure.. ?

Oh I see. As long as they are only together for a few months you load will be ok. The only thing I would watch is to be sure your eel, can't fit into your Oscars mouths. Or it will be LUNCH!

yeah thats what I'm scare of...

you need a tube of some sort for the eel. i would reccomend a piece of flat rock, and lay it against part of your front glass. the eel WILL stay hidden most of the time, and if you make its house at the front glass, you get to see it all the time, otherwise your never going to see it lol. as for compatability with an O, i have no idea.

LOL, Maybe pass on the eel until you put the Oscars in the 130???

I've seen many video ( on youtube and others over the internet) of Fire eels (Mastacembelus erythrotaenia) and it seems to be OK.. not 100% sure.

Another Question, is sand a good idea? or better with gravel? ( i think sand would be good for eel to hide under it and all)

Sand or gravel is entirely a personal choice! I have all gravel, but lots of members love sand!

every time i vac my gravel i wish i had sand instead...

so get sand I only have gravel in my fry tanks so they can hide and grow.
