Hi everyone,

I have just joined this site today and have received a very warm welcome - thank you.

I am about to set up an Oscar tank for the first time, i currently keep discus and dwarf cichlids. I intend on keeping 1 Oscar in its own tank

I was thinking of using:

- 240 ltr tank
- external bio canister filter system
- gravel, rock and wood tank decoration
- RO water??????


Any advice and tips would be great as i have never kept these fish before!

sounds like you have an ideal setup for just one Oscar. Any particular reason why you're using reverse osmosis water?

I suppose only because that's what i use for the other tank, would that water be ok?

no need to use ro on an oscar tank. they can handle regular water just fine.
the rest of your setup sound good for a single oscar.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

You done need RO water with oscars as oscars can live in a variety of conditions. You need RO water when keeping discus because they require soft water
