Having told many a newbie oscar keeper that they are overstocked and need to get bigger tank or rehome some fish I have ended up with a massively overstocked tank
I got back from my travelling and decided to re set up my 4ftx2x2 100g tank. A friend had bred some salvinis so I took seven babies and put them in the tank, and I also put is a 5 inch frontosa and a small plec in there. I took a filter from my 180g so I didnt have to cycle the tank. I then rehomed 4 of the salvinis to another friend
I then go with the salvini breeding friend to take the rest of the baby salvinis to some shops and she gets a credit. As a thank you she uses some of her credit from the last shop and buys me a texas and a chocolate cichlid. A couple weeks later I decide that I want an oscar so I go and buy one. After all I cant be a mod on oscarfishlover.com without having an oscar.
At this point I know I am overstocked and am going to have to rehome some fish. Well last saturday I get home and find that my g-friend has bought me 2 new baby oscars as a birthday present. The thing is she knew I was overstocked and going to have to rehome some fish yet she still buys them. Aaaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhh non fish nuts, what are they like
So there you have it I have a 100g tank with 3 salvinis, a texas, a chocolate cichlid, a frontosa, a plec and 3 oscars.
My 180g is fully stocked so they cant go in there. I have another empty tank but I want to fill that with discus when I refill it
The baby oscars are sooo cute but 2 will have to go when they get bigger. The lady who bred the salvinis will take them back. As for the rest I am going to have a very difficult decision to make when they get to big for my tank
