Can I have an Oscar in this tank?? 2 years, 7 months ago #58231

I would really love to get an Oscar, I think they're great fish. But I was wondering would one oscar be happy and healthy in a 35 or 40 gallon tank? And should I get other fish to keep with the oscar? As I said, I love these fish, but I don't want to keep them if the set-up will be inadequate

Welcome to the site

Unfortunately, 30 or 40 gallons is not big enough for even one oscar so if you do want to get one, you're going to need a tank that is suitable. 55 gallons has always been an accepted size for one single adult OSCAR. However, I would actually recommend 75 gallons for one OSCAR.

x3, and I'd like to tell you getting a bigger tank and the option to get a happy Oscar is most def worth it!
They make cool pets.
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

X4 Oscars get massive. Have a look at a full sized one and you will see what i mean. 30/40g just isnt big enough and you will run into all sorts of problems if you try
I can't get no sleep
