In a 55 gallon tank, I had two juvenile Oscars. They filters consist of 2 HOB filters rated at 350 gallons, and a Marineland Canister C360. I thought the tank was fully cycled before I put them in, but alas, it wasn't to be. One of them (the first and smallest one) succumbed to Nitrite poisoning last week. This was about a week after the water levels finally went to perfect numbers.
Yesterday, we setup the 120 gallon tank, with the three, and added a new albino oscar (named Snow) and three Clown Loaches. The previous oscar (named Ash) is still stressed from all the stuff we had to trying to save the other Oscar. He has a very voracious appetite however. Eats everything he can. Snow is still quite timid, and has yet to eat. I figure he will when he gets hungry enough. There have been some territory disputes, but over all they get along. They both leave the loaches alone.
My question is how long is a reasonable time to expect Ash to be stressed/annoyed due to the new changes and bigger environment, and when might I expect Snow to eat? He doesn't seem to 'get it' yet when I am feeding Ash.
This is also my first experience with a tank this large, and these fish. Any advice qould be great. I did have a 70 gallon for a few years, filled with community fish.
How long is a piece of string? Absolutely impossible to give you any time limit on when your fish will start behaving normally. It might be a gradual process, or one day it might just snap out of it and become part of the group, so to speak.
That's about the best answer I can give you

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved
Oscars are very strange fish, everyone who keeps them will tell you that they are very unique and you will not come across another fish that is quite like an Oscar, definitely part of the attraction for me anyway.
I remember the first day I clapped eyes on a couple of Oscars. I was actually in a fish store with someone else, I had absolutely no intention of getting into fish until I saw these two cute little guys in a tank. The rest is history.

Sounds like you have a great setup. Marineland has some very nice equipment. I prefer Marineland for all my aquarium needs. I would love to see some pics, welcome to the community!
They are being timid, and Ash is hiding in the treasure chest. Snow is lurking aounrd the bottom.
I did just notice it looks like Ash has some injuries today, maybe from the territory disputes. Its not HITH because its not on or around his head, its long his body. Would also explain why he is stressed maybe?
