Ok...so i've looked everywhere for 100% pure ammonia and for the life of me can't find it!!! Went to 3 grocery stores, Lowes, and 2 harware stores but all of the ammonia has either surfactants in it or perfumes/dyes.

Anyone find any ammonia with no other ingredients??? If so what brand was it and where did you find it?

So what do you use for fishless cycling? Everyone said to get pure ammonia with no additives.


Actually just looked up the laws...its illegal in pure form but not when mixed with water like what you would find on the shelf at a store...basically thats what i'm looking for but without sufactants or perfumes/dyes.

you need aquatic grade amonia by the way marcus has a theory about urine no joke ive always been interested to see if it works try it ask advice first and be care full lol

I wouldnt personally bother with fishless cycling - if you get a bunch of feeder fish, your biofilter should build up at a rate where any ammonia produced by your fish wont be in strong enough concentrations to do them any harm.

Slowly add other fish once cycled - Oscars will take care of the feeders themselves.

lol pure amonia ie without water or other things is called anhydrous ammonia... its the primary ingredient in alot of fertilizers, and methamphetamine. and unless your a farmer with a field and a permit... your not getting it.

I should rephrase my question...where do you find household ammonia but without the additives such as the surfactants and perfume/dyes...kind of worded it bad with the "pure" ammonia part as i'm not running a meth lab! haha!

do aquarium places sell aquatic grade ammonia like Ronnie mentioned?

And I realize it would be easy to do a traditional cycle with fish...just wanted to give the fishless cycle a try since its different and i've never done it before.
