looks good. i will be surprised if the plants survive when they grow a little larger best of luck with them. I have tried a few times and gave up )))

I would be concerned about them 3 clown loach? in the far right corner. they will still be the same size in 6months time but may become food in 2 months. keep an eye on them.)

Marcus,

Thanks for the info. I tried to take their current size into consideration. I have put plenty of hiding spots in there that only they can get into. They are fast little guys. I have also noticed that the Oscars pay them no attention at all, good or bad. They just let them be.

Loaches are my second favorite fish

I would have bought larger loaches if I could find them. Those guys are about 4-4.5" which was the largest I found.

The fish store did have two loaches in a show tank that were 8-9" in size, and I marveled. They were not for sale. I asked

Cheers,

J

Thanks for the compliments. They seem to be getting along better and better. They swim in unison almost 24/7 now, they swim in circles around one another, there is absolutely no aggression whatsoever anymore.

Ash's color still won't go back to completely black, but he is as piggish as ever when it comes to eating, and his energy level is through the roof. I did add another piece of drift wood (fake) in there today they love. They like to lay under it.

Snow still doesn't know yet that I am the one who gives him food, but he is now emulating everything Ash does, so, if Ash eats, Snow eats.

I guess I will stop worrying about Ash's color. Water quality is excellent, he 'seems' happy, he is extremely playful, his appetite is like that of my dog.

One question, in a five foot (60 inch) tank, is that too small for three oscars, or just not as optimal as 6'? I saw a 6' tank with 6 adult oscars in it and they were happy. I ask because I saw a red-oscar about the same size as they two I currently have, and I figure if I were to attempt it, I would need to do it before they get too much bigger.
