TOPIC: cloudy water

my water turned couldy, it started yesterday, i foumd oot one of my top filter wasnt on. it got unplugged so i was running on one filter for like a hour. would that cause it?
the other thing i did was buy a pleco last night and added one of those algea wafers? im thinking thats what did it? any experince with these algea waffers? thanks

You say you've turned one of your filters off? What other filters have you? Unless your media tried out in the hour that your filter was turned off, I don't see how this would cause the cloudy water which does rather sound like a bacterial bloom. How big is your tank, and how big is the new fish that you added yesterday?

it has a sump filter and one of those top filters with the cartiges on top that the tank came with, that one turned off for a hour or so for vaccum. he is about 5" long with my two little oscars

did a 20% water change, seems to have helped, sorry, also it is a 130 gallon tall

How big is the tank, what kind of sump filter. Have you tested for ammonia and nitrite?

i just got the filter box, it is a canistor filter i guess, not a sump. i dunno if there different, i let my buddy borrow my test kits for his new tank, have to go down the raod and get today
i know my ph is 6.8 i did have that kit

i found a filter like mine

i believe it is bacterial bloom like OFL had said... have you cleaned any or
all filter recently? turning off one filter won't cause that much cloudiness
unless there are some other factors like cleaning the filter or replacing
the filter cartridge.....
