Well I got the new (to me) tank and stand picked up today. I spent a few hours cleaning it and getting it setup. I am very happy with the result so far. There are several things I still need to get for it. I'm gonna run two of these (Penguin 350) www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2752390 on the tank for now. Currently I have one on it that I ran on another tank for a few days.

I know you guys really don't know me very well yet but lol you will. As of today my wife has said over and over "I hope this is not another one of your hobbies you stick with a month or two". The best part of that is we went to Petsmart to pick up the rock and a few other things I needed and..... She bought herself an Oscar lmao... So needless to say I will need a 125 gallon tank in a few months.

I'll get a few pic's of the new Oscar soon and post them here as well. For now here are a few pic's of the new 55 gallon tank. Please any and all advice is very welcome and appreciated.

Very nice aquarium. Congrats! Marineland creates good products. The Bio wheel is very innovative and efficient. You have a penguin I have the Emperor both made by Marineland and work essentially the same. Again nice set up. Hope the cycling goes well. Ikkie can help you through that process he has become quite educated on the subject, he is currently cycling.

nice looking tank you got yourself.
for suggestion might i recommend a background for your tank and also i would not increase the number of hob filters on it but instead get yourself a good canister filter and buy it with the thought of the upgrade you will be needing in the near future.

good luck with your setup
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

Hello and thanks. Yeah I put the new Oscar in a cycled tank. I am gonna do a background air curtain and a few other things as well. As for the filter I'm just gonna get another filter like I have for the time being. I am currently looking of a 125 plus gallon tank. If the tank I buy does not have a canister filter I will buy one for it at that time. I think the 55 gallon tank will be fine for a few months for my two 3in Oscars. At least I hope so lol..

I agree with Necro, Canister filters are very efficient, you could use a good canister in unison. I recommend Marineland's C 530 Canister filter, use it for now and then transfer it over to your 125 later on. At that point you will probably need two Canister filters or a good sump.
