Hey peoples just wanting to get any and all advice on pebbles and to see if there are any that i should steer clear from using in my tank.
I have some smooth decorative black pebbles that were originally bought just for show around the house but i think they would look really cool in the tank with my O's just not sure if safe or not. Any advice would be great cheers.

just a good cleansing and good to go...just make sure to cover the entire floor,
to to make sure that there would be not accidental breaking when your o suck the
pebble, swim up and drop it to the bottom. the weight of the pebble is enough to
break the bottom plate that is under stress with weight of water.

I thought they were safe but just wasnt sure as ive read that most additions of rocks have to be inert but these would look so good in the tank and most importantly will save me some cash.

the rocks in my tank are from lake superior...just boiled them to make sure they were clean and put them in. In my tank when I was younger I had all my rocks and gravel from there with no problems...you should be good to go. I'm gonna make a run up to see family in Michigan this spring and go to the lake to get a couple buckets of larger rocks in case i do a cichlid rock tank...plus wanna find some nice driftwood from up there!

i used to have beautiful stones, geods, and many crystals in my tank and my fish are still alive so i would go for it.

now will those stay beautifull or become dull looking in time?
i like the idea.
Although having one kind of stone in your tank creates a more smooth atmosphere..

Iam not a fan of smaller rocks about 1inch diameter o's pick them up and drop them.
ive seen a post before were someone woke up in the morning with no water in the tank. the oscar had been digging (being mischeavious like they are sometimes) cleared the gravel and drop a small rock on the clear patch and cracked the tank base.
my o's move my big rock around when they are being mischeavious.

Proberly a 1 in a million chance of it happening to you thou.

I think a few Pebbles looked really nice, very aesthetically pleasing. They do become a little bit messy looking at they become covered in algae you can always give them a scrub every now and then

The rule with any rocks is to pour vinegar on them. If they fizz dont use, if they dont fizz then they are ok to use
