i am install my bulkheads in my tank, the glass is 1/2 thinck.
how tight do the nuts on the bulkheads have to be? right now i have them hand tight as i can get, alittle nervous about a wrench being they are plastic threads and all. any install before?

this is what i bought from foster&smith

well when i put the 4 in my 8 foot tank, i used a pair of channel lock pliars to snug them down. and then they leaked a bit... so i took them back off, and doped up both sides of the gasket with silicone and put them back in and i havent had a problem since.

it should be hand tight only...the plastic thread could have at least maximum
torque of 40....and it is self sealing. yes, a little silicon is an aid against
leak but would be fine even without.
