Never done it myself but I cannot see any harm in putting one of these in your aquarium. I don't see how it can change your water chemistry to see what other people say

like marcus im not sure about antlers in a tank. thats one i have never heard of before.
but i have read that real bone isnt good in a tank something about how it decomposes and how it affects water quality but im not positive on that. hopefully someone else will chime in with a better handle on it for you......

aged horn or tusk will never had an after effect with water unless the porous
part is still in there....solid horn or tusk is like a solid smooth stone.
it is a dead cel like hair that never dissolve in acid

Dunno... I found various articles about putting antlers in an aquarium but it seems nobody is really sure. Some people say yes it's okay, other people advise against it. Why not stick the antlers in a reciprocal of water for two or three weeks and monitor the water conditions? That is all I can suggest for the moment

best way to find out, get a bin, fill it with water, test said water, and put the antlers in and let it soak for a couple months, and test water periodically... i would attempt to cure them like a new piece of driftwood and see if that leads to any negative water quality issues.

edit... i just read what penn said in his last post... lol... echooo....!

yeah i know its a strange one but what i was thinkin was:

i have a riverbed theme going on and thought if i half burried said antler it would look quit authentic like a deer died crossing river or whatever...thought it could look pretty cool just kinda laid on side sticking out of the sand.

ill do the filling bin idea n test water for a couple of weeks and see whats going down!

i find it hard to belive anything craps more than my pair of oscars!!

if nothing else iv got a small debate going on! i may have out foxed the experts!

being akward is all in a days work
