TOPIC: 150 gallon tank

150 gallon tank 2 years, 3 months ago #76297

Hi I just got a 150 gallon tank pretty cheap and I wanted to put 1 or 2 oscars in it. I know that it depends on the fish because with oscars it seems that every has its own personality. I wanted to get a red oscar and a tiger oscar both about 2 inches to start out and let them grow together. I did not know if the tank was big enough or if these two oscars would get along.

A 150 gallon tank would be fine for two Oscars...as for getting along, only time will tell. Sometimes they will and sometimes they will want to fight. The only way to know though is to get them

Yes, your new tank is perfectly big enough for two Oscars as Ryan has said. You could even have a couple of Tankmates as well as long as they are not too big.

Nobody can answer your question about whether or not your Oscars will get along, that is something that you will find out for yourself in time.

i know some people like the gravel and some people say it makes the tank but i was reading a forum on here about not having gravel and how easy it is to clean so when i changed rooms i took the gravel out and it is so much easier and would give you more room

yes its true.. no props and gravel does make ur life easier. but for me its all about display. i want to create a certain contrast between the background, tank bottom and fish. so i normally choose dark background and gravel with bright coloured fish and vice versa. and i wont use props like pvc pipes even if its more practical.
doing so will create an experience in the whole room, and u surely will get more compliments from visiting friends.. priceless! heheh!
i would just leave the practical stuff within my spawning tanks..
