hi guys,iv finaly had anoth cash to get bigger tank for my o,,i got a 90 gal tank and a large cannister filter,how do u think i would go if i put a 5-6 inch pleco in there with it?i also got a new o and my plan was to wait a month or 2 untill it was biggr and try putting him in with chomper,,what do u guys think??cheers chris

Had to giggle a bit, I have that too that I mean to get a bigger tank for my existing fish and end up with new fish as well for some reason.

About the pleco, do you mean 5-6" full grown size or what it would be now? Some pleco species tend to become big monsters that might outgrow even a 90 gal tank, plus they tend to make a hell of a mess. Otherwise I wouldn't see why not.
Same about the other Oscar. Can of course happen they won't get along but that's bad luck then With two Oscars you're at the limit then but guess you know that.

the pleco is a black 1,,its in the kids tank but its a bit big for in there,,yeah i know what ya mean,i go to the shop to buy food etc and come with more fish for the kids haha,if the 2 o's put up with each other thats all that is planned to go into new tank and mybe the pleco:)

Had to look up what a black pleco is now, lol. It's just a common Hypostomus plecostomus, right?
Well those get quite huge so I guess it's anyway better to put it in with the Oscar(s) than keeping it in the kids' tank. Have fun tank cleaning!

i think most off us have this problem i have not once walked into th LFS without spending heaps of $$$.

im trying 2 convince the wife to go buy my fish food so that i dont go in the LFS anymore.

ive literally banned myself from the shop.

I have banned myself from going to LFS too. You end up with too many fish for your tanks and then you cant decide which ones to send back

good idea is to decide exactly what u are going to setup in a tank,write it down and be specific.

and keep to that piece of paper.otherwise you end up with overstocked tanks or 2many tanks.i a softy and cant get myselff to return one of my fish the LFS.

Adding another Oscar to your tanks existing one can be fraught with difficulties. Oscars are territorial and will normally not take kindly to sharing a tank with a new comer. You also might end up with two males which is a recipe for disaster.
