your tank is about 60g uk so is a good size for one oscar but not any other fish. you may need to add a little more to the diet other than just pellets but its a good start. sand is a very good choice as a base. you will need to wash it lots to remove the salt too. it may be easier to just buy it, washing sand isn't easy, but if you have the time go for it.)))

One thing you are missing from your list is a water testing kit. its probably more important than the fish.

depending where you live (and the ambient temperature where the tank will be located), you may need an aquarium heater

The temperature of an Oscar tank should be between 21°C and 28°C

X2

Have a look around the site for other foods to feed to your oscar

You need to be able to test for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and Ph

Maghan R is right a heater is a good idea unless you live in a warm climate- the temperature needed is 79f
I can't get no sleep

Well Namibia is Quite hot but Swakopmund is a coastal town with a lot of fog etc. the reason The heater isn't listed is, because it's 1 of the obvious things for me I almost forgot to put on filter as well. So the heater is definately planned in

I didn't know I needed a testing kit. Do ammonia + nitrate + nitrite levels rise so fast in an oscar tank? I haven't used 1 yet because to prevent I always make 20% water changes 2ce a week.

Thanx 4 the help!

what sort of filteration are you planning to get? oscars are messy fish so invest as much as you can on a good filter, my choice is eheim. also is this is a brand new tank? if so make sure you fully cycle it before adding the oscar.

and finally the testing kit is always recommended regardless of what fish you are keeping. having a testing kit gives you a idea of your water condition just incase something goes wrong..
