So I've decided to do an Oscar tank. Just planning on putting an Oscar and maybe my pleco from another tank in there. I've got it cycling now. I'm using a fluval 405 and AC110 for filtration. A large piece of driftwood, and some red slate.
My question is about preferred pH level for an Oscar. I've heard 7.2 is good for them, but then I've also heard that they like slightly more acidic conditions and that pH of 6.5 would be more desirable. What do you guys think?
G'day and welcome, Oscars do prefer the lower P.h levels but in saying that they would have to be one of the hardiest fish there is and they will also comfortably live in a range of P.h as long as there is no major fluctuations they will thrive in a higher level but it makes it more risky cause of ammonia being way more toxic at higher P.h. So the best bet would be to try and keep a nuetral P.h and stable. Hope this has been of some help.
