i new 55 gallon tank that im going to be putting my oscar in, and i was wondering what is the least stress full way to transfer him as far as catching him. by the way he is about 7 1/2 to 8 inchs long and is far to large for any nets that local pet stores carry and i am worried if i try to use one it will hurt him or stress him out really bad.

i bought a big net from petco i mean big basically what i did when i did the trasfer from my smaller tank to my new one i drained the water down to about half way and cought them with the net i then covered them with a old tee shirt i had i socked it in tank water before hand. then i just trasfered them. make for sure ur new tank is cycled first. and add stress coat to the new tank just to help out. oscars do go threw a thing called pouting well mine did i heard its common so dont let that scare u if ur o does that.

how did you clean the filter and gravel? did you use tap water or tank water?
it is better to have little algae with stable water than clean tank with poor
quality
