I am setting up a 125 gal for my 2 Albino's. I am planning a black background and am thinking of painting it on. Has anyone gone this route? Is there special paint I should use. I would like to spray to eliminate brush strokes. I did have some concerns about toxitity and how it would hold up with moisture (O splash). Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

You don't paint the inside of the tank, just the outside. I would use a water-based latex glossy paint. You should be able to get it as a spray which would make life easier and you may be able to avoid any brushstrokes.

i sprayed the back of 2 of my tanks with glossy krylon spraypaint. worked just fine, just be sure you dont get any paint INSIDE the tank, only spray the outside back glass.

Thanks.....I was thinking a flat black. I used a piece of flat black posterbord on my 46 bow and it looks good and kind of adds some depth. Now I am wondering if gloss would be better. decisions decisions. Thanks again for the input.

I used a matt blue spray paint on my tanks and I think it looks pretty good. I would recommend two coats though and as everyone says only on the outside.

i use kryon fussion flat black on my tank i imho it looks fabulous.
as previous stated you paint the outside of the tank and if possible do multiple light coats. also before you finish look at it from the inside again a light source to be sure you dont have any thin spots

The paint Necro suggested dries in 10 minutes so they wouldn't be out more than an hour!

The tub? Thats ballsey. Alot of soap residue, bacteria. Honestly this might be a great excuse to get another (bigger) tank.

I scrubbed the tub first... lol... But 2 of my O's lived in there for a week! LOL
