Hi guys

Its been a while since i posted! Anyways my 5ft oscar tank burst at the seams so I am looking to upgrade it to a more cleaner made 7x2x2.

It will have a cabinet, hood and tank.

I was concerned however if the floor would be able to hold the weight. I estimated its going to be over 850 KG.

Heres some pics of underneath.

The tank will be supported by 5 joists which are 50cm apart. The wood is 10cmx5cm.

I will put the tank against the wall so it is sitting underneath the brick pillars.

Cheers,!

Hi etwee, yes your right its been a long time ))). if it was me I would double up the timbers. you should be able to turn them and place another timber along side the existing timbers. you may need to lift the floor boards a little. if you can't get a full length timber in, you can cut them and bolt them back together. make sure you use star washers between the 2 half's you bolt back together. you will need about 4ft overlap to bolt the 2 half's of timber together. not sure how much room between the floor and timbers in the picture but you could also use vertical supports to the ground. I had a 4ft2x2 on a floor just like you have posted. it worked for a few months before it started to dip. the tank didn't brake but the water was higher at the front glass than the back. ))) it looked crap!
