Wondering if i could get some advice, I need to move my 75 gal. tank from one room to another. Can i transfer all the water to my big tuperware storage containers along with my Oscars (all under 4") then move the tank and refill it with the same water and put the fish back in? Is it this simple? Is there other things I should be considering?

I would think that would work just fine. Make sure the tuperware storage containers are clean.

You have got it spot on. Remove everything you can first (lights, decoration, fish etc, as much water as you can to keep the filter running) then remove then the filter. Re connect the filter as soon as possible

O.K. sorry change of plans, whole different set of rules.
Now I have to move my tank from one house to another. It is only across town but still a pain in the arse. Some more advice from people who have had to move their Oscars would be appreciated. I don't want anything to happen to my fish in transition.

Tank is going have to be last thing out of your old house and first thing setup in your new house.Or last thing in van and first thing out.

Put you fish in as large a tub as you can. Make sure it has a secure lid. Also keep it in the footwell of your car, depending on weather and temprature you can keep the water warm from cars fan blower.

Try and keep a small amount of the water in containers with lids that you can manage to carry and transport. If you can lift the tank without disturbing the gravel all the better.

Get tank into new place and fill with warmish water so heater doesnt need to work overtime. As soon as it looks settled, put your fish back in. You can leave tank to settle and warm up whilst you unpack and get sorted. Just keep an eye on oscars in the container. They may go in to a sulk and lie in bottom looking sorry for themselves.

Never done it myself but this is how I would do it anyway. Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks for the tips d8ncer, much appreciated. Hopefully I won't have to move it for a few weeks because it is very cold here in New England right now.

I would add a battery powered air pump to provide some aeration for your fish during the ride. Don't feed the fish for a couple of days prior to the move do a water change the night before this will cut down the ammonia levels and water quality will last longer for the move.

What part of New England are you in? That's my neck of the woods maybe I can help.

move everything keep it submerged in yr tank water and as the boys all ready said move yr tank last or first.

u can also get hold of a airpump that works on AA batterys to airate the tupperware if u travel far with them.

Some fish shops will look after your fish for you (for a fee). See if some of them will put your fish and filter into a tank. You tank fish and filter to the shop before the move, move without the worry of your fish and them pick them up once you have settled in a bit
