I Just like the 'pattern / contrast ' of color from that fish that is sold as. :P Just like many other Cichlids, regional differences of the same taxon can be dramatically different. I know that "Orbicularis " is an invalid taxon and really is described as Oscars coming from the Rio Tocatins . If I'm not mistaken, I think Jeff Rapps called them "bumblebee" ?

Rapps has the market on them. Wetspot tropicals may have crassprinis.

Draco they were thought a different species at one time. Lots of opinions. The fins are a but different (longer) and they are more aggressive (in my experiences)

daddadoo7,

Have you by chance kept the Bahia or Para ? If so, are they as aggressive / pushy as the Orbic.'s ?

You are not wrong, as far as I am concerned (and I own one). I think Rapps created a kind of mythology of a separate species around the Bumblebee for the sake of sales. I do think it is a naturally occurring variant, but not a separate species.

Here is my guy.

You could be right dude but orbics were talk about in books from the late 80's and early 90's

I think the crassprinis was the only one that the scientific comm aggree on.

I dont think it ican be compared to a tiger oscar though. All of the orbics have the yellow/green bands and the chin spots. Plus tigers have been line bred like crazy
