Hi all,

Just bought this Fish which I believe is a Texas/ JD hybrid.
I'm not into hybrids but this one is quite stunning and has attitude. He (pretty certain it's a he coz of the bump starting on his head and the shape of the fins) is already starting to stand up for himself against much larger opposition.

I've never seen a Texas with the facial markings that this has so that's what makes me believe he might be a hybrid. the LFS thought it was a JD. He has also got the red tip to the Dorsal fin of the JD.

Any one had any experience of these?

its kinda hard to say on this one. it could be a carpintis cross but its a little hard to say with any certainty.
it might have been a failed attempt a red texas but again im not 100 % on that.....
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

Yeah looks about the same. The thing that had me was that when I googled it every pic I've seen of a Texas with these facial makings has been a hybrid with a JD. According to them a true texas just has spots and not stripes on its face. I've been told that because they breed very easily together there are a lot of hybrids out there.

Without meaning to sound bad are you sure yours isn't a hybrid?
