I was wondering if anyone has experience with Blood Parrots enough to answer two questions:

My blood parrot is rushing everyone out of a specific corner of the tank. (S)he has been doing that since last night and it is moving all of the pebbles out in a circular fashion systematically from the corner of the tank (s)he is shooing everyone from.
Question #1 --- is this female behaviour? Is she about to lay eggs?

Quesiton #2 --- if she is about to lay eggs, given that she is the only blood parrot in the tank, do they lay eggs without a potential mate?

Cheers,

Joshua

Umm i have no idea why he she would be doing this but ive been told that blood parrots cant bite things because of there weirdly shaped mouth so i doubt any harm would come to your fish. My blood parrot just rushed my Ob sometime but never bite? idk why maybe he cant. It just sucks your fish is messn with everyone though disturbing the peace. Just wait til one of your fish set him in place lol good luck to you.

They were getting along just fine. The blood parrot just started doing this last night, and (s)he didn't start doing it until (s)he started digging the gravel out. I just find it interesting all of this started at the exact same time. (S)he has been diligent about moving these rocks now for about 12 hours.

well see if theres any tankmates in there that a bp can breed with, and just cause they dig a whole dont allways mean much, it might mean they just like it idk. we can tell what there thinking. Maybe ur fish will stop after a while but i wouldnt be worried as long as you dont see any fin nipping or things of that nature. Nice fish by the way how big is that tank. I loved in the vid when all the clown loaches rushed the food lol.

I dont know specifically about parrots but it sounds like normal cichlid behaviour, some oscars will do this. Your parrot is just being territorial

Thanks for the compliments on the video. Them rushing the food is also one of my favorite parts

This tank is a 120. I am currently looking for a 180 to make everyone comfortable in a more long term fashion

Ya just watch out that to make sure no one gets mad at the bp and attacks him, bps remind me of chiwawas (sorry for the spelling) they bark at all the big dogs but when it comes down to fighting they loose lol. Good luck again man tank looks amazing nice colar on all the fish what food do you feed them as well?

Matt,

As you may have noticed, I have a total of 13 mouths to feed. Every other day, I throw in the following:

2x frozen blood worms
3x krill
2x brine shrimp

As a treat, occasionally (1-2x a week) I will throw in a few cichlid pellets.
