Flowerhorn has been in my tank about 2 weeks now, and personalities are starting to come out. The blood parrot isn't taking as kindly to the flowerhorn as the oscars have. The oscars could care less either of them are in the tank. The main contention comes in when the flowerhorn wanders into the blood parrot's territory or vice versa. Neither the blood parrot nor the flowerhorn care where the oscars go though. The oscars can wander into their territory and they are all OK with it.

I watched one little spat between the flowerhorn and the blood parrot and one of my oscars actually swam up to them and stopped the spat. It was interesting.

normally, tame fish break the other fighting fish.... in my case
three big oscars fight and the pangasius normally break them apart.
perhaps that what your oscar is doing...

I was recording one time when the two went at one another, but it was automated, and they went behind a piece of driftwood and you can't really see it

I like watching my guys, and I like recording them too. As soon as I have a good video compilation, I will post something good for all of you

One more question, a concerning question. Snow, my albino has a dent on his head. He has had it for quite some time. it doesn't grow, it doesn't get smaller. I am probably being paranoid, but should I be worried about HITH? My water parameters are perfect, his color is excellent, he is the most aggressive oscar I have in the tank. He had it before I added the blood parrot or flowerhorn. The other oscar, ash, also does not show any signs of being sick. Snow is also ravenous when it comes to eating and swims very quickly.

I guess I got a little paranoid because since he is white, I dunno if I could identify a battle scar vs HITH. I also noticed last night that his lower jaw seems discolored, almost dented as well, and I really started freaking out, but he acts really healthy, and doesn't act like there is anything wrong at all. All other fish are completely happy, colorful, energetic, ravenous, even the loaches, and loaches are the most sensitive to things like stress and bad water since they are scaleless.

Finally, I don't use any carbon anywhere in my tank. I even use Cichlid trace which puts trace elements that cichlids like in the water. Their diet is varied (every day krill, blood worms, brine shrimp).

Should I be worried?

if the dent is smooth... maybe he is just developing a boulder...
wherein a shoulder and the head will develop a muscle... look at the dent
on the head...

I will take some close up video of Snow. Snow is a little more yellowish (off white) than your guys, and his tail is completely traced by a red outline. He has a beautiful tail. I will take video of Snow at lunch time and post on here.

seems like a battle scar to me,and it's at a very common place for oscars to injure their heads.
Mine have dents on their heads and backs and i noticed that the scars will keep a bit of a lighter colour after the wounds have healed, although the markings do come back.
But lighter then the white snow now is, seems impossible!

i say just trust your testresults and maintenance, and try not to worry about HITH.
You're doing what you can ,so don't worry too much.
Worrying will bring no blessing for tomorrow, it'll only curse today...
