Wondering how many mbuna cichlids can be kept in a standard 55 gallon. I know you are supposed to overstock to control aggression but i dont wanna over do it .
I have no idea why the water bill is so high

Hey there Hun! Where you been???

I just moved mine to a 55 and I have 32 in there.... You could do a few less, or a few more. But mine seem fine... Keep in mind I am WAY over filtered...

Hope this helps.

summer flounder, sea bass, bluefish. Lot of sharks and yellowfin tuna for the guys that go further offshore. We had a 5 foot hammerhead chase a bluefish to the surface yesterday that was pretty cool

32 african cichlids in a 55 gallon. did i read that correctly? I would love to see a video of that.

I currently only have 4 african cichlids in my 55 gallon, but they have a large JD in there with them for the time being.

I kept African Rift cichlids for several years. The bigger ones like Frontosas and Moorii's can grow near as big as oscars so you would be limited to just a few. If you are talking about mbuna than you are more likely looking at the lake Malawi species which tend to be more dwarf like. I kept maybe a dozen or so in a similar size tank. They mostly got on fine but occaisionly differnt species just were not conpatable. If they had similar colourations. often they would quarrel. I had pair of M Johannii in my tank and all went well till I added a pair of L fuelbornii (spellings are no doubt wrong) All hell broke loose until they were seperated.
