my jag laid eggs last night. but the problem is, it was the one i thought the male jag. so i have screwed in picking a pair. they were so acting as a pair, defending the territory, cleaning a spot to lay eggs and stuff. just before i went to bed i checked on them, then i saw this tube shaped thin comming out from the jags belly, and small white bubble like things were comming out of it.
she really have bigger and wider fins, and shes way aggressive than the other. so i thought it's a male. and i went to buy him with a friend of mine who has a been keeping cichlids (including a male jag) for years.
so i guess i'll have to start looking for a male jag all over again. if you have pics of 8-9 inch male jag, could you please post them

too bad, they are so fun to keep. i think apart from Os they are the most interactive cichlids specimen

When i got my jag i originally bought 2. Then they started breeding, so i immediately rehomed one. couldn't have a breeding pair of fish in with my oscars!!!

The funny thing is i also had a breeding pair blue acaras in another tank with same size wrigglers, so i popped some jag wrigglers in with them. I threw enough in so that some of the jag babies would make it to the bottom with the blue acara wrigglers. The blue acaras knew which ones were jags and ate them all!!!! So no cukkoo type parenting there!!!!

once i added a blue acara pair into my O's tank and my O thought "oh feeding time " and one was gone within minutes, and the other one lived for several days and...

@delboybully - if you have pics of that male jag could you please post them as im gonna start my quest of a male jag this weekend

the male is on the outside of the flower pot.......




also if you planning on buying a jag it is quite difficult to sex them if they are under 4-5 inches in length....
