from what ive read female festaes are not as aggro as their male counterparts. this and the fact they do not grow as large as the male makes it possible for them to be house with tankmates. however the tankmates do have to chosen with care so they can handle themselves with the festae.

i have done some research on them and would definetly try my luck with them if i happen to find a nice specimen in my neck of the woods......

a friend got one about a month ago and it is a very nice looking fish and they still have some of the same batach left in the shop where he got it and they are old enough to sex so that make it pretty east to make sure i get a female. Im thinking of up grading tanks soon to an 8 foot and thinking a female festae would be an awsome addition but just a bit worried about its aggresion level. I have some pretty mellow fish in my tank such as a BGK clown loaches, severum, silver dollars and my big 2.5year old oscar

with the stock list you have i wouldnt try adding a festae to the mix. imo none of your fish could handle a festaes aggression level and you might find yourself waking up to a single species tank one morning.........

thats kinda what i was thinking....but after a long think i will not be getting a new tank, cant really afford it at the moment so for now the festae is on the wish list right next to a jag, shame cause they are awsome fish. I think i will also be rehoming my chocolate cichlid to free up some space in my current tank, he hides all the time anyway so it wont be a big loss
