as someof you might know i picked up a male and female jaguar cichlid about a month or so ago. well as i was cleaning my tank today i noticed that they seemed a little more aggresive than usual and after a closer inspection i saw that they laid and apperently fertilised a batch of eggs.

now hopefully i will pics of jags and their fry to post for your viewing in a week or so.

well my first batch of jag eggs were eaten by their parents shortly after my last post however today i noticed about 200 fry swimming around the female. i tried to get some pics of them but they were not very cooperative. but out of the dozens of pics i did get this one. there kinda small but if look carefully you can see some of them.

jaguar cichlids are substrate spawners like oscars and most other new world cichlids. they do on occassion take the fry into their mouth but only to transport them back to where the parents want them when they(the fry) venture too far.

How wonderful for you!!! That is great!

How long after mating dance should they lay eggs? I am confused by mine. They are acting like they are going to breed but so far nothing is happening! They both come to the front of the tank when I go near it but thats it! Cleaning everything digging holes and guarding their Slate but no eggs!!!! I don't know what to do!
