no idea about cross breeding as such for parrot and severum.
i do understand that some species can take care of other species
eggs and rear the hatchlings as shown in the nattional geographic.
i hope somebody will chime in for this topic. good luck

i dont know if its naturally possible for there to be offspring. ive seen fish lay eggs in a tank by themselves, and also 2 females pair off and lay eggs. since the eggs are not fertilized, they never hatch. if eggs are layed, they will be a whitish color, and when fertilized are a little brownish. either way goodluck. this is very interisting, and maybe we'll be naming a fish after you. defenately let us know how things turn out

im not 100% sure but i beleive its the male parrot that is infertile. i have seen many different kinds of hybrids with parrot fish. i myself have a pair of parrot pink convict cross. they are interesting fish with the face of a convict and the body shape of a parrot.
heres a pic to show you

parrots are actually one of the few fertile hybrids, all though not all of them are fertile.i also have seen some hybrids with parrots. they all seem to end up the same way though. the coloration of the other fish with the body of the parrot. i saw a jack dempsey parrot hybrid, it looked just like a jd accept with a parrot body.

my friend also just bought 2 flowerhorn parrot hybrids. they arnt nearly as aggressive as flowerhorns, i guess cuz of the awkwardly shaped body and mouth and they dont get as big. but they have the same coloration. a very nice fish.

and i have a question. dont some people say that severums are one of the original links to the parrot being made?

Personally I do not like hybrids, but I have a friend who has successfully raised fish from a Parrot/Severum combination. So if its your thing, then good luck with it.

if your parrot and severum happen to breed,
i am hopeful you can post pictures and additional
info in this site. we can call it accidental cross breeding

I wasn't having a dig biggamehunter, I am sorry if you thought I was, I was merely stating that I don't like hybrids. Each to their own mate. As I said my friend has Parrots and he loves them. Good luck with the fry if you have any and I'd still like to see the pictures.

a friend of mine accidently found them in his tank one day while cleaning it. when they stated growing he asked if i could keep a few for him till he relocated them and i kept two for myself. they are the most aggresive fish i have in my south american tank(must be the convict in them). good thing they only grow to about 2-3 inches.
