just wondering if anyone have information about the flowerhorn. apparently it's a hybrid between cichlasoma trimaculatum and other species. do you think it's a suitable tankmate for oscars?

I think you will need quite a large tank for these type of fish, they can exceed 12 inches. I think they can also be quite aggressive.

in my opinion the flowerhorn is definately not a tank mate for oscars they will never get allong ....agression and teritory will be far too much for the oscar to handle.....you will realy struggle to get harmony with these 2 species....im not saying it cant be done just i beleive its more trouble than the worth

presently, i am maintaining a flowerhorn tank for my friend,
an ophthalmologist who always provide me my eyeglasses .
flowerhorn will not get along with any tank mates including their
own specie unless you've got a huge tank. 150 gal is not enough
for a two fully grown flowerhorn.

i will post picture later..... the fish is already 14 inches long,
with big lump in the head.

from what ive seen of fh's they tend to be quite aggro. they should only be kept with other large aggressive cichlids and oscars arent up to the challenge
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

yup, bad idea. idk if your into parrots, but this may be an alternative. they sell parrot/flowerhorn hybrids. they have the body of parrots, but with the flowerhorn colors. they dont grow as big, cost less, and are less aggressive.

thanks guys! flowerheads seems to be a bad choice but in a "grotesque" way, they are quite beautiful.
