well i finally got a pic of my new texas albeit a crappy pic a pic none the less


he measures in at about 1 inch in lenght

wow, beautiful... how big does it can grow?

males grow to 12 inches and females around 10. they are wuite whimpy when there small but get more aggressive when larger.
they are also the only cichlid native to north america

at what growing rate compare to oscar?

not quite as fast maybe 1/2 inch or so a month for the first year then they slow down. i beleive it will take about 2 years to be fully grown

what did it cost you? i just saw a whole tank of these for sale for 3.99 each. and that seemed really low, i seem to remember seeing these for around 20 dollars each at another store.

i got him from the lsf that i sell my jags to and he gave him to me at no cost. but i think they retail here for about $10 or so.

they change quite a bit as they mature. and actually look nothing like the juveniles you buy.

wow, i never thought they would change the color
as such. i have to go back to the pet shop center
to find out if they do have texas cichlid....
maybe i am confused with their color....
most of the fishes i saw in this site have different
name for us here.

nice texan necro!!! unfortunately mine have long sinced passed away they are very cool cichlids though.
