Most of you know the trouble I've had with my male ( I think) GT. He wouldn't eat for 5 weeks till I put him in the hospital tank then he will eat worms and grubs but no fish food at all. Since he was eating we figured that if we put him back in the big tank he would be used to eating and eventually eat the fish food. Wrong. He's back in the hospital tank so he don't starve to death ( and because the female was very mean to him even after bagging her).
I'm at my wits end, will he ever eat normally? I'm afraid the longer I keep him away from the others the harder it will be to reintroduce him. He's become my favorite cause he needs me so much and I don't want to lose him or keep him alone all of his life.
How long should I keep him alone and eating?
Will she eventually leave him alone when I bring him back in?
I have no problem with bagging her hateful self again and again if that's what it takes:unsure:

you might have to face the fact that maybe they will never be able to live in the same tank. each fish has its on personality and some are just born nasty some arent.

if you have a 50 gallon tank kicking around you could try keeping a one fish tank.

just a thought
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

my goal is simple a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all

I have 2 40 gallon a 20 and a 10, he's in the 20 right now cause I thought that would be a good hospital size. If I have to keep him out of the big tank I'll just have the perfect excuse to buy more fish, some buddies for him

perhaps, because of his medication, he is still disoriented,
and the lady terror takes advantage of it to bully him. eventually
once fully recovered from the recent medication, he will lord the
tank again. just give him time.

He eats like a little pig when he's alone, I might just leave him there cause I think it's gonna be really hard to get him to eat fish food after all these delicious worms. I don't even shiver and gag anymore when I have to pick up the worms for him. I'm a big girl now

once he/she is in good health, you can gradually introduce new food for him/her. eventually, he/she take anything that dropped inside the tank

It'll be my pleasure to teach her a lesson when I bring him back in here. Gonna keep him in the hospital till he's eating fish food though no matter how long it takes.

just keep an eye on your fish, if it is breathing heavily, (gasping)
change the water in the abg or release it immediately. it may suffocate
itself.

Thanks for the great advice guys, I'll remember it when I bring him back. He's eating worms very well now but still ignores food. I've gotta teach him to eat fish food or he'll never survive with the big guys.
We're off to the fish store to prowl, no telling what we'll come back with
Have a great day !!
