My Sevs are changing color within minutes. They get pale and almost lose their strips then go back to being almost black with very dark strips. Is this normal? Are they stressed? We've had them for 3 days and have done major work on the tank each day since. Today is the first time they've eaten so I figured they were upset with all the intrusion.

I've got 2 female green severums that change color dramatically sometimes, most often when they lay eggs.

These are a mated pair, they just had babies 2 weeks ago and the girl said that they would lay more soon. I want lots of babies cause they're gonna trade me new fish for them A cheap way to feed my addiction!

really nice pair, i imagine the colour change is mood based, thats what happens with my tiger O's when im clenaing the inside of the glass in the tank, he gets very dark stripes within seconds

I don't think my O's ever change colors, They're both losing a lot of their orange as they grow but that's all.

Sinstinna that's a lovely pair of severums you got, do they ever attack the bottom of the tank due to the reflection?
i tried this once with my oscars and they went mad, so i had to change it.

They don't attack but they do go to the corners and go up and down repeatedly and pretty fast. They're doing it now. Should I be worried or just laugh at them?

I forgot to say thank you , they don't have bright colors but I think they're beautiful. The male shakes his head a lot. The girl at the store said it was part of the mating ritual. When I first saw them I touched the glass at his face and said "Hi cutie, wanna go home with me?" and he shook his head no!! It made hubby laugh out loud and I knew they were going home with us lol

I have never owned severums so i dont know how aggressive these guys get, but my O's used to get really aggressive about it.
i don't think you need to worry, because i don't think your severums will cause them self damage like an O would. BUT.... it can stress the fish out due to them thinking there is more severums in sight. they just don't understand its a reflection their chasing

They don't really act stressed, just curious. They're not gasping but they open and close their mouths almost constantly. None of the others do that.
