Hi just wanted to say i got my Dovii and hes only about 3 inches long and for only being 3 inches he is very aggressive already. He wont back down to any of my oscars and he chaces around my convicts that are about 5 inches. Even the Pair of convicts that have eggs he wont back down from them eather. I heard that they where very aggressive but i wouldnt even think they where this bad. I have a big gold fish in there that my oscars never ate and is about 6 inches long know and he has most of the fins nipped off that fish. My Fire Mouth is about 5 inches and is pritty aggressive but he backs down to the 3 inch dovii lol pritty funny but yet kinda has me worried...

lol hes a lucky gold fish i guess hes going through a color change he was all brown at first know hes all orangish white with a brown tail. But heres a question my dovii is starting to get blue spots ubove the vertical black line does this mean hes a male?? i know hes only like 3 inches but with the blue coming in im wondering. he or she is getting pritty agressive when feeding he will shove in 3-4 pellets in his mouth and its suprising how much he can fit in there. but before feeding if i touch the tank where he is he will try to go after my fingers lol... but anyways any advise will help thanks.

Thats cool..I own 3 dovii's, they are nasty monster's. I have 2 females and 1 male. The females are around 14 inches, and the male is 16 inches. "Dalton" keep in mind that this is a really mean fish and get's really big.. minimum tank size would be 150 for just one..ofcourse you can keep him with other fish when he's young. My male dovii got soo mean he nearly killed a red devil cichlid. The only fish I saw that actually chased and beat down my dovii is a buttioferi cichlid, these guy's are cold blooded killer's..anyway's, Good Luck with your dovii.

I read a story lately of some guys pulling a prank on a friend.
The took a small aligator and put it in this other guys tank, to eat his fish.
Their sense of humour is lost on me and I don't see how that could be fun, but anyways...
But the fish was a Dovii and it turned out that he was not happy with the idea of a crocodilian in his territory.
He attacked the gator and kept pulling him under, until the gator had his tail ripped of partially instead of the gator eating the fish!
It was a small gator though, but that Dovii showed him allright and the guys pulling the prank were stunned and left with a bleeding and hurt lil' gator in the bucket...
I guess it's a typical one species tank fish!
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!
