Hi ya, I have a 29 gallon tank at my moms with Malawi's.. I was over at her house for dinner today and noticed that TWO mommies have babies in their mouths...

What the hell do I do??? I can easily take another tank over and separate the moms from the rest of the crew. But can I put both moms in one tank? Or do they need separate tanks? How long before they spit the babies out? They look like small worms in momma's mouth...

I cleaned the tank a week ago and didn't notice the babies then.. Any info would be great guys THANKS!!!

These are the mommies!

mouth brooder is difficult to deal with. if they feel threatened, they just
gulp their babies and boom, gone forever. i suggest just keep an eye for the
parents and watch for the other tankmates. mommies will protect their babies
whenever they are out and scoop down whenever threatened. but once the babies
lost their egg sac, they are on their own and become easy prey of other tank mates.

I have(including the tank at my moms) 3 Malawi tanks. I love them they are great... They are smaller but just as fun as O's... Go for it! You wont be sorry!

BTW... You will need a separate tank!!! LOL, DO NOT MIX WITH OSCARS!
