Do Texas have same character Os have got?
I'm planing to buy a 48x24x24 tank in couple of weeks. Will it be ok to keep an O and a Texas together.

I've just had to rehome my Texas today. I know some people do successfully keep Texas and Oscars together but for me it hasn't worked. My Texas was very territorial and aggressive. Before I removed it today it spent its time chasing my Oscar around the tank. Personally I wouldn't say it was worth the risk. Get yourself some nice silver dollars as tank mates for an Oscar, nothing to worry about then.

even though your tank will work out to be about 120 us gallons its the length or lack of it that will causes you issues with a texas and an oscar. both these fish are territorial and with the limited length of the tank in time you will run into problems with aggression from the texas.

i do beleive that oscars and texas cichilds can be kept together but the key to it will have to be the tank size. imho a minimum of a six foot tank would be required to successfully pull it of.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

thanx a lot for the opinion guys. So I'll have to go with one of these types, O or texas
Do Texas have the same qualities Os have? recognizing the owner for an instance
All three Os i have come to the edge of the pond whenever i go near. Will texas be like that too?
Sorry for all these questions guys, i have zero experience with Texas Cichlids

my texas has a personality, he comes to the front at feeding and is somewhat interactive with me but not as the same level as my oscars do. imo i dont think there are many if any fish as personalble as oscars.

i would argue that. my green spotted puffers do the same thing. they BEG when you come to the tank. its cute lol. when i come near them they always seem more intrested in me than they are food for the first minute or two anyways lol, pacing the front of the tank checkin me out watching. its pretty cool really. i have to give my lil helecopters (joke about the way they swim in any angle and direction while staying in one attitude) atleast the same rating i would my oscars on personality and fish/owner interaction lol. lately i found if i stick just my thumb in the tank they will come nibble on my fingernail. this is cute now at 2 inches but its definatly not a practice im going to continue when they get bigger lol.

Texas cichlids are not overly aggressive but, can pack a punch! you should do fine, get some bigger dither fish so the texas won't only pick on the Oscar..Good Luck!
