Hi guys/gals i could of swore like 3 weeks ago my Dovii had eatin my Jag. But today i saw my jag he was hidding back in my background i built its a 3d background. But anyways made me feel better knowing my dovii didnt eat him. Quick question though how can u tell if there female or male? i did somelooking and people list different things and they kind of work against each other so any help will work. he or she is only like 3 inches long.

Not sure on sexing jags but you do need to seperate the jag and the dovii or you jag will end up dead

jags are kinda hard sex until they grow a bit. as to describing how to sex them the easiest way is to look for the horizontal stripe. on a female jag the stripe stays and on a male the stripe breaks up into smaller blotches.
after that is said, it can still be difficult to tell the difference between then. your best bet is to post a pic and i will probably be able to sex it for you if its big enough.

Sexing Jaguar cichlids can be difficult. Female's are rounder in shape and are darker when adults(6 inches).Males have alot more color,they are meaner and are light when adults. When young male's have broken vertical bar's, and female's have a straight vertical bar, female's will develope a round bellie as they mature..hope this helps
