I already have a pleco

i have a 55 gal tank i decided not to get an oscar because of space

i might get a firemouth cichlid but i want to hear other species of cichlids that are compatable with a jd

green terrors, red terrors, motas, salvinis, convicts and jags are can easily be kept with jacks. however in a 55 you are limited by tank size and with one jack in there already all i would recommend is either a female jack, or a couple of cons or a couple of sals.

might go with another jd as necro said. i don't know about the convicts though. i guess a bigger fish might hold it's own against a pair of convicts... but i know that it only took a day and a half for my pair of convicts to kill the other male con i had in there

sorry forgot to mention unless you get a female jack no other breeding pairs neither cons or sals. both can become quite ruthless when breeding.

i dont know if i can take the fry the breeding so maybe not another jd
anything else probably will work

In a 55, I personally wouldn't go with no more than a couple firemouths, or...possibly bout 3 silver dollars? JMO though!

i would go with maybe another jack dempsey , but you could get something smaller considering jack demspey's take a little longer to grow and reach maturity. always thought a crawfifs would be cool though!

crawfish should not be kept with fish... else they will harass them in the night when the fish tries to sleep. dont be surprised if you hear banging and splashing in the night and your fish takes some damage if you try keeping them together.
