My fish go crazy for #NewEra sinking cichlid pellets. I am trying to get them onto Hikari Gold but i am struggling as to understand how to make them see it as food? Could anyone help?

i had a similier issue when i changed from sinking to floating pellets. i got round it by putting a selection of both in when i was feeding my O's. they would normally eat all the sinking ones first (i did this so i knew they would definatly get soem food) then they would slowly eat the floating ones. i think this is the case as oscars are very interested in anything in their tank and thus will quickly check out anythin floatin on the surface, that why ppl sometimes giv them ping pong balls to play with. and for this reason they will find that it is food fairly quickly and u can wean them off the sinking pellets completely.

Im doing it with my GT's They are only small. I ordered some Gold in and it is too big for their mouths. So i have ground some down and they have eaten it from what i saw but some other cichlids were just spitting them out, putting them back in their mouths, then spitting it out again, is that bad?

did you try to mix the Gold pellets with their staple pellets?
That could help.
My Oscar only ate live worms for a year, and recently started taking the Hikari pellets.
because he only ate mealworms, i fed the Hikari pellets to the worms, prior to feeding them to my O.
I didn't force my O into it by starving him, he just started to like them.
You could try some garlic juice.
Soak the pellets in the garlic juice before feeding them to your fish.
Or BGH ultrabite...
check the "cure for oscars/ciclids not eating" thread.

Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

i assume ya mean the gold not the GT's!!

lots of my cichlids do that, not sure why exactly but mine seem to do that and then go back to it later. i wouldnt say its a massive problem. may just look abit messy.

try putting abit less in so yr fish are competeing abit more for the food against other fish. that way they will spit less out and consume it faster.
