would a flowerhorn make a good tankmate for oscars? does anybody have any flowerhorns? they seem like a really fancy oscar kinda.

You'd need a hell of a big tank, for they can outgrow an oscar.
Got no personal expierience with the combo, though.

i think they are the craziest coolest looking thing in fresh water...

Flower horn cichlids are a hybrid of other South American cichlids I believe so you won't find them in the wild. They get quite big and I think they are semi-aggressive so should go okay with Oscars, but you may get some aggression just like you do with lots of other type of cichlid. Remember that you will need quite a large aquarium if you are keeping an Oscar and one of these fish together, basically the same type of aquarium as if you were keeping two Oscars.

in most cases, flowerhorn is a mean fish, always the one left behind in a tank
since all will die of bullying....unless of course if you have a huge tank...
but even in a 200 gal tank, chasing will never cease, thus, not advisable to
have a tankmate. but one thing i had discovered, flowerhorn can spawn in solitary tank with high protein diet.

As far as i understand it flowerhorns are really really agressive and will batter an oscar to death, not a good tank mate. If you are going to keep one then keep it in a tank on its own

Jawsbush, the ethnic make up of malaysia is of malays, chinese and indian. All 3 cultures are represented and all 3 languages are spoken so its not surprising that a fish from malaysia has a chinese name. Malasia is a lovely place and i cant recommend it enough for a visit/holiday
