Well, I have a large aquarium up and running. I was thinking of pulling one my larger guys out of there, and putting him in my 55 gallon, but would like some feedback on what you think I should stick in there with him. I want smaller to medium sized cichlids that can handle a synspilum. I also have a green terror female I might put in there, as she has already started laying eggs and her growth is going to be slow from here on out.

My current tank is pretty stocked so I was trying to relive some room by pulling one or two of them out, place in new tank, and see if maybe there is one more I can add that is small.

current tank has 2 oscars (they are staying there) pleco, female green terror, male jack dempsey, firemouth, synspilium.

Any suggestions? I cant decide what to do because there are so many options out there and I want to coordinate my change properly. If I should leave the syns in there then I will, just trying to figure out a good course of action with my transfer. Hopefully would like to add at least one more exotic fish to the mix and then Im done!

Sorry, I'm not quite following you. Are you talking about taking an Oscar out of one tank and putting it in a 55 gallon tank?

no, lol. I knew I was rambling on. Hehe

No I have my current tank with 2 oscars, 1 female green terror, 1 male jack, 1 red head, 1 firemouth, 1 pleco.

I wanna set my old 55 gal up and make this a tank for small to midsized cichlids. But since my other tank is pretty well stocked, I might take one of those ones, either the bigger breed or one of the mid sized breeds to put in the 55. I was wondering if I did so, what could I put with it. I know not much, but maybe one or two small to mid sized cichlids would do.

Just wanting some ideas of which fish I should switch over (if any) and what should I put with it. LOL

But the Oscars will not be one of the ones I consider moving, they are too big. And I would prob keep the red head come to think of it cause they get quite big as well.

So yea, I want a 55 with a few small to midsized, just wanting suggestions. Maybe someone can put me on a fish that I never heard of!

Was that clear? I hope so..

I think that you should put your terror in the 55. I know they call them Terrors for a reason, but a jack dempsey with some small to medium sized cichlids would be kind of dangerous. Or, put the JD in the 55 and get a female JD and watch them be together

most central american guatope are definetly a step up, aggression wise, from an oscar.
even though they only grow to around the one foot mark, they can be a little on the nasty side and since they are equiped with pseudocanines they can back up their attitude without a problem.
however in a 55 gallon tank i would recommend only a single specimen tank......

I have wanted a EBJD for a while now. So, if I got a female, think they might mate??

Why would the babies be high in demand?
