I have an empty 55 gallon tank and stand that I just can't seem to sell on Craigslist or my local aquarium club.... it's been listed for two months! I'm thinking it's just not meant to be, and fate shall have me setting it back up!! All I need is a filter.....

Looking for opinions - here are some things I'm thinking of:

1) s. american dwarf cichlids (rams, apistos).
my biggest concern here is my tap water comes out at 7.3 and is really hard; so I'm thinking it would take some effort to get the correct water conditions

2) Convicts - mainly for food for the O's; although I've heard that they may not make the best feeder fish

3) African shell dwellers - (i.e. Neolamprologus multifasciatus). They require high Ph and hard water - so it's a closer match with my tap water

4) other ideas? I'm really open to anything; except a high-tech planted tank ... I don't want to spend the money on lighting at the moment.

i had help my niece set up a tank for her HERMIT CRAB, a dozen of them...
they look amazing especially with those character painted on each shells...
easy to maintain.... just a clean damp and moist sand, a small pond area
that needs to replace water from time to time.
