Hi everyone,
I'm about to set up my 4th tank and I have fish here which will need to be moved.
I know My silver Dollar and Pleco will need to be moved when my Oscar gets bigger.
In another tank I have a Congo Tetra and Angel among other fish but I want to put them in another tank so the others can breed.
My question is:
Can I put my SD, Pleco, Angel and Congo Tetra in the 4th tank together?
I've been looking around on here and other sites but nothing is quite definate about Silver Dollars and Angels in the one tank.
Has anyone had experience with this and is it advisable?

do you have only one silver dollar?

I don't have experience with all those varieties.... but one idea is to research where their native habitat and water requirements (i.e. soft vs hard; acid vs alkaline) - to see if they have similar water requirements. That will be the first step.

Then the second question will be compatibility......

Thanks Meghan,
Great start. Though the water in both tanks is virtually the same. However different filters are used.
Any others have advice or experience mixing these fish?
My plan would be to buy 1 or 2 more of each(silver Dollar, Angel and Congo Tetra) and put them in the 4th tank with the Pleco and Clown Loaches.

the congo tetra like heavy planted tanks, fairly dark with place's to hide. they are timid and needs groups of more than 5 in number.

the SD on the other hand will eat your plants as its a veg eater as is the plec. I would fear the clown loach to would intimidate the tetra and nip its long tail. i can't help with the angle fish.

as marcus says it seems u have dif fish with contrasting tank needs, would it only be a temp measure? if so r u in the position of gettin maybe another tank, a small one to temperally hold the fish until they can go back to their usual tanks?

i wouldnt mix those species

I'm glad you said you were planning more SDs - they need to be kept in groups; similar to the clown loaches. Having one of either (SD or CL) alone would stress the fish.

Thanks everyone.
back to square 1.
So the Congo tetra, Angel and Silver Dollar with the Pleco sound like the plan and I'll get another Clown Loach and put them all in with the Oscar.
All my tanks have live plants. if the fish eat them, I'll just buy more. That's what they're for I guess.

oscar will eat the tetra for sure as they grow only 2.4" where oscar will grow 9"+ and see tetra as food. i wouldn't put any fish under a min of 3"+ with oscar

Aggreed, not all oscars do but chances are big he will.
This week I had my Tiger O snatch a fish out of my hand, before i could feed it to my gar.
He ripped it in half and made my fingers bleed.
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!
