if by aggressive you mean what can really do damage to large fish then my list would be:
1. my male jag 14 inches of pure evil
2. texas can actually live in the jag tank.
3. motas good thing they dont grow to big or i would be in some serious trouble
4. tiger shovelnose he eats anything his size or smaller
5. jack dempsey hes almost 11 inches and can hang with almost anyone

still looking for
festae
odo
and if i find them they will rule whatever tank they go in
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

Necromancer4, you have mentioned a fish called "Black Nasty" before. I checked it out after you pointed it out. It didn't make your list though?

My Most Aggressive Top 5
(based on my personal experience)

1. Red Devil
-As far as just persistant attacking other fish w/o giving up. And just being mean to any other fish for not much reason at all. (By itself or with a like tankmate this is one of my favorite fish)

2. Dovii (Wolf Cichlid)
-I once had a juvi male and female in a 230gallon (then tank busted, had to give up everything). Very cool fish. Not as pesky as the RD, but when they make up their mind to end another fish's life, they are powerful enough to do it quickly.

3. FlowerHorn (Trimac mix)
-I had one of these before and I couldn't keep any other fish with it. It was similar to the RD in that respect). It would ram the divider over and over to try to get to the other fish.

4. Jack Dempsey
- I currently own a very large JD that doesn't like any other fish (any size), and if the fish isn't fast enough to get out of his way, this powerful fish with teeth(or what looks like teeth) will tear a fish apart.

5. Jaguar
-I once had this fish at about 13"in the 230 w/ the dovii before the "big spill". This fish was very aggressive, but only if another fish challenged him.

@del, yea that syns is NO joke, lil bastard had to be rehomed after tearing my firemouth to shreds. He was still so young to be so evil..looks like u had a bad mix of tank mates, poor Oscar! And my GT is psycho too, and she probably wont get much bigger!

@necro, yea those JDs are fierce, especially when full grown, super strong fish right there! And that black nasty is a nice lookin fish!

@cebo, RD's are very persistent. I have noticed when I put my RD in the large tank, he was mean for no reason at all. He was very persistent, and it seemed like even if they stayed in their corner, if they looked at him wrong or even moved in a way the RD didnt like, he would haul ass over there and start fighting again. This is one of the toughest fish ever. I haven noticed the exact same personality in my RD, he has torn tank dividers down and has tormented other fish non stop!
My jack also looks like he has baby k9's hanging off his lips as well as the ones I am sure he has in the back of his mouth.

@capt Dave, post a video of that fish in action! Wanna see that!

Oh, Okay. Just wanted to make sure you still liked those Black Nastys. Those look like cool fish, kind of like a longer finned RD. Can't wait til you get one and post pics.

Yup mylutino, That exactly what I am talking about with the RDs. Other large aggressive cichlids tend to show aggression towards others in spurts or atleast something seems to trigger it. But with the RD, they can get in a mood where they don't stop continiously going at the fish until it leads to death.

For example, my RD is living with my JD thats twice the size and the JD is dominant over the RD; the RD runs from the JD anytime the JD decides to chase the RD (RD has a retreating place the JD can't get to. But the diference is that the JD won't constantly chase the RD, only in short occasional spurts. So the RD is able to swim freely most of the time until the JD decides to "let his presence felt".

GT - he killed all the tankmates, most of em were twice the size
jaguar - my jag pair dominates 400+ gal pond
convicts - very mean when they are breeding BTW they always are
jewel - beats my texas which is twice the size
texas - always wanna fight

PS : my biggest O has encountered with all of em but the female jag and the GT(i had him a long time ago), and he did beat em all, yeah they are smaller than the O but still that impressive for an O, right ?
