toni-a created the topic: A proof of aggression ??

Hi all,
I am raising my green terror fry in a 15 gallon tank.
They were doing great and growing nicely till lately, always the smallest of the group is found dead, I lost five fry this way.
They are now something like six weeks old, they are a little less than an inch long, I have seven survivors.
Today I saw a severely injured fry, unable to swim correctly, it was doing its best but all it could do is swim in a circular way, it could move its fins only on one side (that's why it was swimming in circle)I knew it was hopeless an hour later I found it dead.
I am sure this is a sign of aggression do you have any other explanation ?
What to do to avoid losing more fry ?

Bigger tank is really the only answer. Are there other signs of aggression, such as bite marks, or ripped/torn fins?

If there aren't other signs of aggression, something else is wrong, either the smallest fish aren't competing for food, and starving, or something is off with your water (I know you do small, daily water changes, but they may not be sufficient).

They are too small I could see any injuries (they are still transparent)
But doesn't totally losing one fin count as an injury ?

from your original message I gathered the other fins just weren't working. Totally losing one is a pretty clear sign, yes.

Get a bigger tank or start separating them into groups in smaller tanks, like a bunch of 10 gallons.

from my experience with cichlid fry i have never experienced aggression.

because there are so many, and they are so young, its usually not going to be aggression.

a bigger tank is always better, and if you plan to keep them you will need it. i dont see any reason a 15 wouldnt be ok for at least now though.

My gts all seem fine but 1 is getting all tore up. I think I have 2 male gold saums and the one make silver Saum. Idk who is picking on it but I want the weakest one. They are definitely more aggressive then my Oscar was at any size.
