congratulations on your new fish.
You have some really bad tempered fish in your tank, hope they manage to establish territories correctly otherwise hell will break loose.
Don't forget to put many hiding places and deccorations for your fish to hide and especilly mark territory borders

The green texas's name is scaredy all he does is hide. I'll be definitely keep tons of hiding spots but I don't see this fish being near as aggressive as a normal Texas

As far as aggression goes, give it time, give it time.......keep an eye out, things can go south in a hurry.....

Good looking tex. My Texas is a wimp... Well, compared to my green terror at least.

Anyone know the average full grown size of a green Texas? Mine is about 6 or 7 inches at 2.5 years... I was kind of expecting a 10-12" fish.

If memory serves they go about the size of an oscar. Don't worry about him being timid, he'll come out of his shell sooner than you think.

as for decorating the tank when both fish get mean and big. i think i want to keep it driftwood and my attempt of plants continuing from when this was sherbie the oscar's tank. Ive heard that tall decorations that the fish have to swim around help with line of sight and help one fish get away. any thoughts or advice? either way i redecorate almost every water change :silly:

EDIT: yes i assume it will be a 10-12" fish

The move injured him/her (no clue how to sex them so im calling the fish it) and it got a fungus and ick. a few days now and the gtex is doing a lot better i dont see the ick anymore and the fungus is almost gone. its still very scared of me or anything outside the tank, but ive seen it eat and i caught a video of him out.
